Motion Control – Steinmeyer Miniature Ball Screws: Widest Size Selection in the Industry!

Motion Control – Miniature Ball Screws

Steinmeyer Logo

Woburn, MA –Motion Control – We are very proud of our miniature screw product line. It features shaft diameters down to 3 mm, and pitch down to 0.5 mm. All of our screws are available with either cylindrical, threaded or flanged nuts, or a custom nut of your own design.

Miniature ball screw drives are primarily used in the semiconductor industry, as well as in optical, medical and measurement engineering applications. Our portfolio of miniature ball screw drives offers a total of 5 different nut shapes for your mounting design. The nuts can be provided either with preloading (for zero backlash) or axial play. They can be combined with two standard types of shafts or a custom shaft. Ground recirculating ball screws are available in accuracy classes P1 to P5. Rolled versions with lower accuracy exist starting from a minimum nominal diameter of 8 mm. Special versions, for example for clean room applications or vacuum engineering, are available upon request. Our experience and proven quality is evident here too.

Steinmeyer makes some of the most precise mechanical devices in the world. For our smallest screws, the ball diameter is only 600 µm. Our mini screws are used globally by major manufacturers in medical device, lab instrument and other mechatronic systems.

Motion Control – Linear Focus Actuator from Equipment Solutions!

Motion Control – Linear Focus Actuator

Equipment Soultions

Forestville, CA – The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is a high performance compact positioning system.  It was specifically developed for optical applications requiring both high precision and high-speed positioning over a short to medium stroke.  The LFA-1205 is well suited for optical focusing and other micropositioning applications such as scanning interferometry, surface structure analysis, disk drive testing, autofocus systems, confocal microscopy, bio-technology, semiconductor test equipment.  Note that this motor is normally configured with an analog position feedback sensor and can be optionally equipped with a digital quadrature feedback element.    The key to this products immense success is its novel tubular architecture.  This arrangement provides a means to send the optical path directly through the middle of the motor.  The moving optic attached to the motors ‘C-mount’ is not cantilevered and so has no torques.  The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is directly compatible with the SCA814 Servo Controlled Amplifier.

  • 12 Millimeter clear aperture
  • 5 millimeters of linear motion
  • <50 nanometer positioning repeatability
  • Small Step Response of <1 millisecond
  • Threaded lens mount 70 x 70 x 50 millimeters, 600 grams

By design, the LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator rotates approximately 0.1 degrees or 1.7 milliradians for every 1 millimeter of translation.  Through manufacturing tolerances only there can be a small amount of pitch and roll motion that is induced during the intended translation.  These small but real error sources are routinely characterized during the manufacturing process  using our AC400 Digital Autocollimator to control product uniformity.

Motion Control – One Piece ETX Linear Bearing/Pillow Blocks Can Be Used In Radioactive Environments!

Motion Control – ETX Pillow Block/Bearings for Radioactive Environments

motion control pillow blocks/bearings

LM76

E. Longmeadow, MA Motion — Control Components – Linear Motion – LM76 now offers one piece ETX Linear Bearing/Pillow Blocks that will not degrade in a radioactive environment! Machined from a solid block of self lubricating ETX, linear bearing-blocks have high strength, excellent wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, and excellent dimensional stability at higher temperatures As there is no other materials such as PTFE seals or lubricants these bearing-blocks are maintenance free. Custom designed for use in a nuclear power plant these linear bearing/pillow blocks travel on ceramic coated shafting (also supplied by LM76) completely submerged in radioactive water. Designed with a slight interference fit between bearing ID and shaft, contaminates are scraped from the shaft’s surface. The low frictional characteristics of ETX have little impact on drive force. They are now available in Inch and Metric sizes.

ETX bearing-blocks are also FDA/USDA/3-A Dairy compliant and are also are ideal for: Pharmaceutical, medical, food, and dairy processing applications.

EXT features a high continuous service temperatures up to 210°F (100°C) and offers good chemical and abrasion resistance, low moisture absorption, and resistance to staining. These ETX linear bearing-blocks with the slight interference fit keeps the bearing free from debris and bacterial contamination, are not affected by biological fluids, mild acids, can be washed down with cleaning agents, and steam cleaned.

Don’t need solid EXT bearing-blocks consider the FDA/USDA/3-A Dairy compliant electroless nickel coated or stainless steel pillow blocks with PTFE linear bearings and Snap-in EXT Scraper Seals which are available for closed linear bearings, and closed pillow and flange blocks.

LM76 also manufacturers a broad variety of FDA & USDA compliant bearings and shafting, in inch sizes of .25 inches to 1.5 inches, and a FDA & USDA compliant profile rail and slide system that can easily be integrated into new and existing applications. The bearing options include: Self-lubricating FDA & USDA compliant Teflon® composite bearings in a 304 stainless steel shell, and lower cost bearings with a ceramic coated shell and FDA & USDA compliant liner. Bearings are available in closed and open configurations, and are drop-in replacements for all inch sized linear ball bearings.

motion control - ElectromateVaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control Components —
Lintech’s 100 Series Positioning Tables set the standard for high performance and value.

Acme Screw or Ball Screw Driven Linear Motion:

The Lintech 100 series linear positioning slides are designed to maximize performance while minimizing physical size and cost. These linear slides use a low friction, preloaded, recirculating linear ball bearing system, which ride on precision ground linear square rail guide. The linear profile rails are mounted to a precision machined aluminum base, which offers a rigid support over the entire travel of the table’s carriage. The load is mounted to a precision machined aluminum carriage, which has threaded stainless steel inserts for high strength and wear life.

There are 30 different acme & ball screw options, that offer high efficiencies and long life at an economical price. These linear positioning tables are designed to allow for numerous options. They include EOT & Home switches, linear & rotary encoders, power-off electric brakes, motor wrap packages and versatile mounting brackets for multiple axis applications.

Single or Multi-Axis Configurations:

Lintech has the ability to build any of its standard positioning systems in single or multi-axis, using pre-engineered mounting brackets. Mix and match different axes for a customized linear robotics solution.
