Motion Control – Ethernet/IP Marquees connect directly to the Rockwell Ethernet/IP Network!

Motion Control Components Ethernet IP Marquees from Servo2Go

Servo2Go-Logo

Greenville, DE — –Motion Control Components – The Ethernet IP Marquee revolutionizes the industrial market on how a marquee sign should connect and communicate on the Rockwell Ethernet/IP network. The Ethernet IP Marquee has a built in WEB server, eliminating the need to install software to program the marquee sign. Setup of the display is as simple as opening a WEB browser on your computer and entering the IP address of the marquee sign. With its fully integrated package, the Ethernet IP Marquee allows the user to configure and broadcast plc data and message information without programming communication blocks within the ladder logic code of the plc.

The product’s innovation allows the user to set up the functionality of the marquee sign and simply connect to the Rockwell plc. The messages displayed on the marquee can be alarms, machine performance, or production data. These messages are selected and displayed through internal registers from the plc. The format of these registers can be any combination of bits, words, or strings. The Ethernet IP Marquee has an additional ethernet port built into the marquee sign. This second port gives the marquee the flexibility to broadcast information to any computer on the plant network through the web server. This computer can monitor production data and collect real time information from the plant floor by simply entering the IP address of the marquee.

Also, third party spreadsheets can be used to monitor and store the information broadcasted by the marquee sign. With no software to install, the Ethernet IP Marquee stands alone as the new innovative way for a marquee sign to communicate on the Rockwell Ethernet/IP network.

Motion Control Application – Wearable Pumps for Medical Devices Count on Ball Screws from Steinmeyer!

Motion Control Application - Steinmeyer Ball Screws used in Medical Pumps

Steinmeyer Logo

BURLINGTON, MA –Motion Control Applications – Motion Control Components – There has been a tremendous amount of innovation lately in the design of medical devices and lab instruments. One of the critical aspects of the new products being developed is linear motion. And Steinmeyer is proud to be directly involved in providing drive solutions to our cutting-edge customers. We currently have several on-going applications involving wearable pumps driven by ball screws, and I wanted to share some of the specifics.

Implantable medical devices naturally place extreme requirements on size, materials, lifetime, and reliability. These constraints drive up cost and complexity. Incorporating all of this function into a single implantable is extremely challenging. Not only that, but servicing the pump requires major surgery!

One solution is to break down the system into two components—one implantable and one wearable. The implantable component handles minimal functionality and consists simply of a balloon. The wearable component enjoys much looser design requirements. In the projects we are working with, a wearable pump is used to drive compressed air through a catheter that passes into the body.

A wearable pump offers the advantages of being small, quiet, and very reliable. That is where precision ball screws come into play. Steinmeyer offers standard miniature screws in diameters 3 to 16 mm. The diameter typically required for this application ranges from 8 to 12 mm. Custom products can be developed as well for applications that need it. Steinmeyer ball screws also feature our proprietary super finishing process, called optiSLITE. This improves the surface quality of the shaft threads for reduced friction torque, quieter operation, and longer life.

About Steinmeyer

Steinmeyer is the world’s longest continuously-operating manufacturer of commercial ball screws. In the realm of linear motion control, our company has become synonymous with precision, innovation, and exacting standards of quality.

Motion Control – Application – FDA/Washdown System Excels with Special Linear Motion Shaft Assembly from LM76!

Motion Control – FDA/Dairy Washdown System

motion control - shaft & pillow block
motion control - lm76

E. Longmeadow, MA – — Motion Control – Application  – Dairy machinery manufacturers are under intense scrutiny by FDA inspectors when it comes to FDA material and caustic washdown compliance. Recently, LM76 was called by a large US dairy packaging company to review a problematic portion of their filling line. After each shift, the filling line is washed-down, has a caustic foaming agent applied to kill bacteria and then is final rinsed. The caustic foaming agent was destroying – literally eating – the aluminum shaft supports while shafting exhibited pitting and showed signs of minor corrosion. Additionally, there were areas where product got trapped and these locations were havens for bacterial growth. Because this system was in-place and our customer was the end-user, LM76 engineers had to use direct drop-in replacement com¬ponents. What to do?
