Van Nuys, CA – Motion Control – The precise measurements of angles and the curvature of objects are easily determined using two new Pitch and Roll stages just introduced by OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.). The PR100-45-01 (pictured) is driven by stepper motors and the PR100-45-02 is driven by brushless servo motors with quadrature incremental optical encoders.
The Pitch axis (lower stage) is a high precision goniometer stage which features preloaded cross roller guides and a high ratio worm drive for smooth motion over a range of travel of +/- 45 degrees. It has a typical accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/- 0.01 degrees. Additionally, this axis has end-of-travel limit switches.
The 100 mm diameter Roll axis (upper stage) has a 180:1 gear ratio for smooth motion and has a precise pattern of threaded holes for fixtures or tooling. This axis has an accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/- 0.01 degrees. The Roll axis has a Home signal for initialization. Each axis features a calibrated scale to visually display the angle. The maximum speed with stepper motors is 14 degrees/second and 45 degrees/second with servo motors. The knobs of the stepper motors can be replaced with optional optical encoders for position verification.
The resolution of the PR100-45-01 stepper motor driven duel-axis stage depends on the resolution of the step motor driver resolution or the optical encoder if a servo motor is used. A resolution of 0.001 degrees equivalent to 3.6 arc-sec can be achieved using a10 micro-steps per step stepper motor driver or an encoder with a resolution of 500 cycles per revolution.
The PR100-45-02 that features servo motors and optical quadrature encoders are used for very precise closed loop operation and greater speeds. The PR100-45-01 and -02 stages can be ordered plug-and-play with a fully a compatible multi-axis motion controller from OES.

The RSX128 actuator represents a 60-percent increase in the bi-directional maximum force provided by Tolomatic’s extreme-force RSX electric actuator family. For all models, IP65 is standard for protection against dust and water spray. IP67 is optional for improved resistance of water ingress. Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control – The new AY110-300 Motorized Rotary Stage from Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES) features a large 180 mm (7.087 in.) open aperture. This precision, large open aperture (hollow core), low profile stage is just 65 mm (2.559 in.) high and it’s foot print is only 303 mm by 319 mm (11.929 in. by 12.559 in.) not including the motor. The rotary table of the stage has a precise pattern of threaded holes for mounting custom tooling and fixtures, and holes in the base for easy integration into new and existing applications. The diameter of the rotary table is 300 mm (11.811 in.) and the range of travel is a full 360o, and it is capable of continuous rotation. The table is driven by a smooth 288:1 worm gear and has a resolution of 0.000625o with a 10 micro-step per step stepper motor driver. The AY110-300 Rotary Stage is also available with a servo motor and optical encoder. The standard model is equipped with stepper motor and a is a knob for manual adjustment which can be replaced with an optical encoder for precision position verification.
The low cost, low profile AY110-300 Rotary Stage features a very low backlash of 0.0005o, and a positional accuracy of 0.001o, making it ideal for: laser positioning and machining, scribing, microscopy, testing, assembly, inspection, alignment, and other critical applications. This black anodized stage has a load capacity of 65Kg (143 lbs) and there is an indicator scale for visual sighting of the angle of rotation. Forestville, CA — The RS-25 Resonant Scanner from Equipment Solutions is optimized for applications that typically require a means to scan an optical beam. This motion control resonant scanner is a very efficient means of oscillating or vibrating a mirror or similar load at a fixed frequency. Up to a 25 mm diameter mirror can be set at the factory to oscillate at a fixed frequency of 20 Hz to 550 Hz, and mirror sweep can be adjusted to a total of 90 degrees optical. The very compact RS-25 Resonant Scanner measurers just 25 x 58 x 21 mm and all electronics necessary to control and drive the scanner are fully integrated. Typical applications include: 3D laser digitizing & measurement, printing, raster scanners, laser projectors, laser marking, laser range finding, barcode scanning, confocal microscopy, FLIR, retinal image acquisition, semiconductor inspection, laser tuning, and biological and medical research.
The RS-25 Resonant Scanner can optionally be configured with a very high-resolution position sensor. This non-contact electro-optic sensor provides a means to directly monitor the angular position of the user’s load with micro-radian scale resolution and repeatability. The sensor naturally produces an analog signal proportional to position and is noise limited, however, options include a high-resolution 16-bit Analog-to-Digital converter to quickly sample and report the mirror position (up to 1500 samples-per-second) at any time.
Unparalleled performance and reliability have been achieved through a continuous and careful attention to every design detail. This relentless drive has generated patent pending concepts and ideas that distinguish the RS-25 Resonant Scanner. The RS-25 Resonant Scanner has a virtually unlimited life. Carefully designed flexures mimic a conventional spring-mass harmonic motion system, and a small voice coil motor coupled to the system compensates for small system loses that would otherwise dampen the oscillation.
Two connectors are accessible from the side of the unit. One, a mini USB connector, supports high speed USB communications and power sourcing. The second connector provides electrical control and signal interfaces (e.g. analog amplitude control and feedback (e.g.) mirror position).
Additional features include: Very low power drive electronics (low heat emission), vertical or horizontal mounting, high frequency stability (to 0.05%), broad frequency selection, no wearing parts, shock and vibration tolerant.

New Compact Motor
The MAC motor sets completely new standards for the performance and size of servo controls. With a length of only 311.8mm for a 3000W motor with a torque of 9.55/28.6Nm at 3000rpm, this MAC motor matches the size of traditional servo motors without built-in controllers with flange 130x130mm. This has only been possible through the use of extremely compact motors and the development of electronics and mechanics that utilise the latest technologies and manufacturing methods. So what about vibrations and temperature? As with the other integrated servo motors in the range (50-3000W), both the motor and all electronic components have been specifically selected to withstand the rigorous demands required by industrial use.
Power Supply and Energy Savings
Powering this motor is easy since it only requires connection of the main voltage of 3x400VAC through the M23 connectors. Control voltage for the encoder and microprocessor circuitry is 24VDC: In an emergency-stop situation, where an approved relay has cut-off the main power, encoder position and other values are maintained by this control voltage. In some applications, however, this is not needed and in those cases an optional internal 24VDC supply can be used, requiring only an AC main connection. Furthermore highly effective switching technology is used to ensure low heat generation resulting in appreciable energy savings.
Other Advantages
One of the big advantages of using the integrated MAC motors is that you don’t need to install a separate servo driver or controller in a control cabinet. This gives you many subsequent advantages: Space savings in your control cabinet, saving of expensive motor and encoder cables, saving time (and money) for cabling, noise is minimized due to internal cabling and also installation errors between driver and motor are eliminated. In addition, service is much easier, since the motor and controller can be replaced as a single integrated unit. Hence downtime is minimized and production is maximized.

The vertical motion of each Z-Axis Stage is driven by an 8 mm diameter ball screw with a 1 mm lead, and guided by cross roller bearings. Very high resolutions of 0.1 micron or 0.05 microns with 10/20 micro-steps per step motor drive, and repeatability of +/- 0.5 microns makes these two Z-Axis Stages ideal for: Microscopy, inspection, metrology, positioning, photonics, sampling, and laser drilling and machining.
Each stage has a 90 x 90 mm (3.543 in. x 3.543 in.) table with threaded holes for fixtures or tooling. Additionally each stage features a dynamic straightness of 5 microns and dynamic parallelism of 30 microns. The maximum z-axis travel speed is 5 mm/sec (0.196 in/sec) and load capacity is 5 kg. (11.0 lbs)
The AZV9010 and AZV9020 Z-Axis Stages are constructed of black-anodized aluminum alloy and weighs just 1.85 kg (4.978 lbs), and 1.95 kg (4.299 lbs). Each stage has a knob for manual adjustment, and the stages can be supplied plug-and-play with a motion controller.

The DZRALTE Series are motion control digital servo drives that control brushed & brushless servomotors in a compact form factor which make them ideal for embedded applications. These fully digital drives operate in torque, velocity, or position mode and employ Space Vector Modulation (SVM) which results in higher bus voltage utilization and reduced heat dissipation compared to traditional PWM drives. The role marketing is expanding!
As a marketer of technical products I make an effort to view the sales process as a consumer. Fact – All consumers are not alike. Speaking only for myself, although, I believe there are many like me, that want to do their own research, and ONLY talk to sales when they are ready to.
Depending on the consumer it may be early or late in the sales process. Perhaps the sales funnel should reflect an overlap rather than have a line at which the process switches from marketing to sales. That said, consumers need to be aware of a product, have their interest aroused, have cause to consider the product, and have an interest in purchasing the product. Marketing today necessarily has a bigger role in the sales process than in years past.
Years ago (pre-internet) a potential customer saw a product release or an ad in a magazine, circled a number on a “Bingo Card” and got a sales call made on him. Today the potential customer sees a product release or ad and starts to do his own research. In addition to some reviews, he will find data sheets, application notes, videos, dedicated web pages, and blogs online (products of the marketing department) all of which will be carefully reviewed before a sales person is ever called.
Developing and implementing an effective Business-to-Business marketing program for technical products that:
Creates Awareness of …
Generates Interest in …
Causes Consideration of …
Raises the level of Intent to …
and
Aids in the Evaluation of …
Does not have to be expensive!
However, It does have to be well planned … … and that plan has to be carried out.
For large companies the marketing program can include: Paid Advertising, Product Releases, an expensive interactive Website, a Blog, Data Sheets and Brochures. All effective tools to create Awareness, Interest, Consideration, etc.
For smaller companies an effective reasonably priced, affordable marketing program can include: Product Releases, a Website, perhaps a Blog, and Data Sheets.
Product Releases are great for creating Awareness of, they also generate Interest in, and cause further Consideration of your products, each time the release is seen in a different print or online publication.
The Website does not have to have an expensively developed “WOW” factor as much as it has to have the information needed to determine if your product is right for the prospects application, or if you have the capability of supplying a custom product to meet or perhaps even exceed his or her needs.
A simple inexpensive blog, can also be an effective marketing tool.
Data Sheets … … Create a straight forward format for an online data sheet that provides the technical data needed helps in the Evaluation that then can lead to the Sale!

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control — The EDD-3701x EtherCAT slave drive joins Galil’s EtherCAT Family. This family has grown to include two EtherCAT masters and an I/O slave with both digital and analog I/O points. The EDD-3701x is a motor amplifier that operates in an EtherCAT distributed system where there are up to 32 slave drives and one master. It has a daisy chain topology using standard CAT5 Ethernet cables. The EDD-3701x can interface with Galil masters (DMC-500×0 and DMC-52xx0) for sophisticated applications or with TwinCAT® for very simple applications.
The EDD-3701x series has the ability to control brushed, brushless, steppers, and microstepping motors (See Table 1 for more details). Unlike the competition, the EDD-3701x can both control a motor and also has 8 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs, and 2 analog outputs. All I/O information from these drives are accessible by the EtherCAT master. This capability can eliminate the need for separate EtherCAT I/O devices. The configuration of the EDD-3701x is done using the Galil’s GDK software. Simply connect to a PC via EDD-3701x’s USB port, follow the GDK configuration tool process, and start moving motors. The EDD-3701x also comes with a setup guide to get the user from taking the EDD out of the box to moving motors in a manner of minutes
The EDD-3701x has a small form factor with just 3.9”x5.0”x1.5”. It can operate in either Cyclic Synchronous Position mode (CSP) or Cyclic Synchronous Torque mode (CST). It also accepts quadrature encoder feedback up to 15 MHz.

New Two Way MAR-17-2-3:1 and the MAR-23-2-3:1 Speed Reducers using Traction Drive Technology leveraged engineering fluids and precision manufacturing with a simple design that features exceptional reliability and up 98% efficiency! The MAR17-2-3:1 Speed Reducer is designed for input speeds up to 3600 rpm with 10 to 20 in/lbs of torque, and the MAR-23-2-3:1 Speed Reducer is also rated for speeds to 3600 rpm but with an input of 20 to 30 in/lbs of torque.
The propriety engineered traction fluid with a coefficient of friction of just 0.1 to 0.12 transmits torque between the four driving and driven elements. The traction fluid continuously changes from liquid-to-solid-to-liquid in the microscopic spaces between the driving and driven elements. Even though there is no metal-to-metal contact there is no slippage! These compact speed reducers are quiet, generating up to 72% less heat even after weeks of continuous operation, and offer thousands of hours of trouble free operation, as the traction fluid cools and lubricates the traction drive speed reducers. Having low vibration, and no torque losses from 10 to 3000 rpm, these 3:1 2 way speed reducers let motors operate at peak efficiency while having a damping effect on a motor’s torque ripple. The speed reducers are available with an optional overriding clutch to protect the components as they can not be back driven. Incorporating standard NEMA mounting dimensions, they can be easily integrated into new and existing applications. Creating 38% lower dB at 3000 rpm than conventional gearboxes these people friendly speed reducers are ideal for use in medical equipment such as mobile hospital equipment and dialysis machines as well as pumps, blowers, fans, turbo and super chargers, conveyers, HVAC systems, and other power transmission and motion applications.
