Servo2Go - Motion Control Motors & Drives from AMP

Servo2Go-Logo

Greenville, DE –— Applied Motion Products is proud to announce the release of our new line of motion control brushless DC motor drives. The BD5 is a brushless DC motor drive that is based on advanced control technology featuring excellent performance and ease of use.

The motion control drive is aimed at OEM applications that require high performance, high speed stability, basic speed control and low cost. Its velocity modes are controlled by way of analog or multispeed digital inputs. The supply voltage for the drive is 12 to 48 VDC with an operating current of 5 amps RMS continuous and a peak current of 10 amps RMS.

The BD5 motion control brushless drive is an efficient and well-featured drive for use with our line of brushless DC motors. It provides stable velocity control over a wide speed range. Motor speed can be controlled by an on-board trimpot, a 0-5 volt analog input, or via the drive’s digital inputs. Dedicated stop and enable inputs are available, along with a dynamic braking feature that brings the motor to zero speed in a quick and controlled fashion.

To compliment the motion control BD5 drives, Applied Motion Products is offering three performance matched 42mm brushless DC motors. Maximum speed is 4500 rpm. Max continuous torque is 0.225 N-m (32 ounce-inches).

The motion control BL series brushless motors offer long life and low maintenance. They come in metric frame sizes and are offered with optional gearheads for applications demanding high torque. These are three-phase brushless motors with hall signals for commutation and velocity loop feedback.

MOTION CONTROL – NEW PRECISION HYBRID BALL SCREWS WITH CERAMIC BALLS!

Steinmeyer-Motion Control - Hybrid Ball Screws

Steinmeyer Logo

Burlington, MA — Motion Control – Steinmeyer, Inc. announced another option to its standard line of motion control precision ball screw products – hybrid ball screws using ceramic rolling elements. By using balls manufactured from silicon nitride instead of tool or stainless steel, Steinmeyer is able to eliminate micro-welding in the ball nut. The major benefits include longer lifetime, lower friction and less lubricant required. In a preloaded nut, micro-welding typically occurs whenever the lubricant film breaks down between the balls and thread, resulting in direct metal-to-metal contact. When the nut moves with respect to the screw shaft, tiny bits of the steel balls break off and mix with the lubricant in the nut, thus contaminating it. Over time, the solid metal chips in the oil or grease adversely affect the lubricant’s ability to function effectively and cause adhesive wear. Premature failure follows.

With dissimilar materials in contact, namely high grade tool or stainless steel for the shaft and nut body and silicon nitride for the recirculating balls, micro-welding is prevented. There is an extra cost for these ceramic balls and they are available in limited diameters. Steinmeyer offers hybrid motion control ball screws in diameters ranging from 6 mm to 40 mm with pitches of 1 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm (not all permutations).

Applications for hybrid ball screws include:

• semiconductor production machines

• inspection equipment

• medical and dental devices

• aerospace robotics

• analytical equipment.

The Steinmeyer group is comprised of two manufacturing divisions located in Germany. August Steinmeyer GmbH & Co. KG (located in Albstadt) has been setting standards for high precision motion control ball screws for over 40 years and prides itself on high quality, innovative designs to meet demanding customer requirements. Our Feinmess Dresden (FMD) division has been producing an extensive line of high precision positioning systems for well over 130 years.

New From MotiCont – A Motion Company – Motion Control Voice Coil Linear Motors!

MotiCont - Motion Control Voice Coil Linear Motors

Van Nuys, CA – Linear DC Motors, Voice Coil Motors (VCM) or Voice Coil Actuators (VCA) are the simplest type of electric motors for motion control applications. These motors consist of two separate parts; the magnetic housing and the coil.

Applying a voltage across the terminals of the motor causes the motor to move to one direction. Reversing the polarity of the applied voltage will move the motor to the opposite direction. The generated force is proportional to the current that flows through the motor coil. This force is almost constant in the specified stroke range of the motor.

Voice coil motors do not need commutation and using a position sensor, positioning accuracies of less than one micron or 0.00004 inches are achievable.

The non-commutated motor construction increases reliability. The direct coupling of the motor to the load allows for fast acceleration / deceleration and high speed operation.
Very high speeds and accelerations can be easily achieved.

The moving part needs to be supported by a mechanism supplied by the customer.

This type of motor may be used in conjunction with a position sensor and a motion controller for accurate positioning.

All the following motors are also available with metric thread.

Customized solutions can be provided upon request.

Motion Control – One-Axis Motion Controller Has Onboard Brushless/Brush Servo Drive

1-Axis Motion Controller Has Onboard Brushless/Brush Servo Drive

Motion Control Single axis controller

Greenville, DE —   Servo2Go.com has just added Galil Motion Control’s New Econo Series Motion Controller with Ethernet & Onboard Servo Drive, the CDS-3310, to its broad range of high performance cost effective Ethernet based Motion controllers.

Galil Motion Control recently released the CDS-3310 single-axis controller and drive system designed to provide high performance and precise control of a single brush or brushless servo motor. According to the company, it combines a programmable motion controller and 500-Watt drive in a single, compact package that eliminates the external wiring between the controller and drive.

The CDS-3310 includes PID compensation with notch filter and velocity/acceleration feedforward, non-volatile program memory with multitasking, uncommitted digital and analog I/O, and advanced modes of motion such as electronic gearing and teach-and-playback. Galil says the product accepts differential encoder inputs up to 12 MHz, and provides dual encoder inputs that are designed to enable it to accommodate electronic gearing or dual-loop applications.
